BCC Institute Staff Profile August 2020

Meet our lovely students and staff! Each month we profile a student or staff member so you can learn a bit about what makes us tick.
Q1 What is your first name?
Deepak Garg
Q2 What is your role at BCC Institute?
Trainer and Assessor for Certificate IV Disability.
Q3 Did you play any sports or have any hobbies as a teenager?
Yes, I love basketball and iceskating. I also enjoy cycling and playing cricket.
Q4 Did you have a teen idol? Who was it and what were they famous for?
Honestly, I never had a major teen idol as I thought it's not the best age for someone to achieve big things in life. I on the other hand had historical people such as Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein who fascinated me. Famous for their hard work and dedication.
Q5 What was your first job? Best job/why? Worst job/why? Ideal job/why?
I began my career as an Human Resources manager after completing Masters in Business Administration in the United States. That role was pretty good as it gave me good experience right after education. But I wouldn't say it was my ideal job as I didn't really find passion in doing what I was doing at that stage. After years of striving through a boutique of career changes, I found my passion in Training. I love talking about my work experience in the Disability sector and have passion to train people who want to work in these roles.
Q6 Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
I believe my biggest influence has been through my own experiences which I have gathered working in Australia. I found that there is a huge need for good workers in the community who have the ability to make a direct contribution to a person who is aged or disabled. I endeavour to deliver the best for each and every batch I train and hope they go and make a difference to someone who needs support in those critical stages of their life.
Q7 What is your favourite place in Sydney (that perhaps not many people know about)?
In Sydney I love going to Watson's Bay. I also enjoy going fruit picking. One must try and go for the long drives both in North and South directions from Sydney! I love going out to Terrigal in the Central Coast.
Q8 If you could visit any country, where would you go?
I would like to revisit United States and India.
Q9 What advice would you give to new students?
Believe in yourself! Believe in your choices and decisions you have made! Do the hard work as no one else will do it for you. You are the best and you can do it!
