Qualification Code: CHC30121 / Entitlement Full Qualification

BCC Institute delivers training under NSW Government Smart and Skilled program. This presents local residents, particularly youth, the unemployed and other eligible learners, with the opportunity to gain new skills in government-subsidised vocational training courses.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s well being, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

Students will learn about:

• Provide care for babies and toddlers
• Health, safety and quality
• Culture and diversity
• Emergency First Aid
• Programming for children 0-5 years

Course Duration and Start

Domestic – 2 nights per week of online training for 9 months. Flexible start dates. 

About Smart and Skilled

Training under Smart and Skilled is fee-free and fully funded by the NSW Government. The program is designed to assist eligible people to attain the skills they need to secure and maintain employment.

Eligibility Criteria

You may be eligible to receive funded training when at least one of the following eligibility criteria applies:

• unemployed (whether receiving welfare or not)
• at risk of losing your job
• aged 16-24 years (including school leavers)
• in receipt of any welfare payment
• veterans and their partners
• people employed in aged care, childcare, disability care or digital skill industries

Training Options

Virtual classroom

Most training and assessment is delivered in a virtual classroom environment via Zoom. Students will also be required to complete some self-directed learning tasks.

Face to face training

Some practical components of training will be completed in face to face training sessions.

Work placement

All students will experience 160 hours of work placement. This is a compulsory part of the course.

17 units (15 core + 2 electives)

Attendance

Domestic – 2 days online per week plus 160 hours mandatory work placement.

Entry Requirements

Domestic

• Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) course pre-assessment test
• Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Before commencement of work placement, students are required to:

• Provide a Working with Children Check
• Provide a Police Clearance Check
• Have a reasonable level of fitness to cope with standing, lifting, bending, twisting and reaching
• Be physically, mentally and emotionally healthy to respond appropriately to personal needs

Students must also have access to:

• A PC or equivalent running or capable of running Microsoft Windows 2010 and Microsoft Office 2010 and above
• Internet connection

Further Study Pathways

Upon completion of CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care 107223G, students may be interested in completing the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care 107029J to gain work in leadership roles.
