Get paid to play
Well, not exactly. But, careers in early childhood education are incredibly rewarding. It’s a dynamic industry and educators play such an important role in the development of our children. Whether it’s in finding creative ways that help them learn, teaching new skills to help prepare them for life or inspiring them through play or stories, you’ll be teaching them when they’re most open to learning.
90% of a child’s brain development occurs in their first 5 years so it’s quite a responsibility in helping them to develop intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially. But, one thing we can absolutely guarantee is that a career working with young kids will keep you on your toes and make you laugh – everyday!
Booming industry
We are in the middle of a childcare boom and career opportunities can be found throughout Australia. Stats show the number of childhood education services in NSW have grown by 42% since 2013 (5,398 as at May 2017, including preschools, long day care, family day care and outside school hours day care). So, there’s no shortage of jobs for qualified childcare professionals and no sign of that changing anytime soon. Very few industries can make that claim.
Career opportunities
There are opportunities in the childcare industry, which will continue to grow and develop with the increasing Australian population. Some of the core roles are:
- Child Care Worker
- Family Day Care Worker
- Nanny
- Out of School Hours Care Worker

- Training or teaching.
