This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard.

They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

Course Duration

Domestic – 46 weeks (40 weeks of classes + 6 weeks of breaks) includes a minimum of 240 hours of work placement


Domestic 1 day at college  +  1 day mandatory work placement

Training Options

Face to face training

Face to face classes at BBCI are kept small with a maximum of 15 students per class, allowing more quality time with their trainer. Each trainer is well experienced in the field, providing first hand experiences and learning techniques for their students.

Online learning – Domestic students only

The online (E-Learning) option enables students to study at their own pace. Upon enrolment into the course, students are assigned a trainer who will be there to assist where needed with units and assignments. A user friendly online portal is used to complete the course.  Please note that the work placement hours of 120 are compulsory and you will be assessed in the work place.

After hours part-time delivery is also available to those who cannot attend during the day.

A Fee Payment Plan is available to domestic students who have enrolled in a full VET qualification at BCCI. The same course tuition fees are applicable for online and part time delivery. The fee is payable in monthly instalments over the duration of your course. These vary depending on the length of your course. Once enrolled, a Course Fee Payment Plan will be issued to you detailing your payment due dates. Please note fees are subject to change without notice.

We understand that you may already have many skills and areas of expertise that you have obtained in different ways and these are recognised through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.

BCC Institute has a process that has been structured to minimise the time and cost to applicants and provides a supportive approach to students wishing to take up this option.

If you choose to apply for RPL to prove entry requirements, you will be provided with a kit that will assist you in deciding whether you want to apply for RPL and that helps you to collect all of the evidence you will need to provide in order for us to assess your application.
